Here is Big Size Animatronic Dinosaur Factory talking about the difference between model silicone material and glass steel of simulated dinosaur.

In some amusement parks, parks, and scenic spots, we can often see the existence of Animatronic Dinosaur, which are usually made of silica gel, but some are made of fiberglass. What is the difference between these two materials?

First, silicone material.

Silicone, also known as rubber, is the most common type of simulated dinosaur model. This material uses a sponge as the base and then applies silicone as the skin. This material is characterized by softness, elasticity and a very realistic touch. And the motor can be installed inside, the transmission structure, and the electric simulation dinosaur model with action function can be made.

Since the silicone material cannot be molded by the mold, after the motor control program is added, the cost is high, and the average one meter is almost 2,000. However, the silicone material has good elasticity and sealing properties, and it can be used outdoors to resist the sun and rain, but it is easily torn by tourists and causes damage.

Second, FRP material.

The FRP simulation dinosaur model is collectively called sculpture. This material is hard and can prevent certain human damage factors, and the shape is more delicate than the simulated dinosaur model of silica gel. The production process is to use the mud shaping type and then make the mold, and then integrally formed, so the number of models of the same size can be made of glass fiber reinforced plastic, about one meter more than 1,000 meters.

The surface of FRP is hard and cannot be installed with motor to create dynamic effects. And long-term outdoor placement will not be easily destroyed. However, years of sun and rain can cause the FRP to fade and crack.
